Chapter I  Monochromatic color Harmony

Color Harmony

All color harmony rules involve the use of the standard color wheel. The most important thing to remember about the color wheel is that each color family contains all of the tints, tones and shades of that color family not just the brightest color from that family.

Color Harmony

Monochromatic color schemes utilize one color family and can use all of its tints, tones and shades. It can also include black and white as they are totally neutral. Monochromatic colors are the simplest to achieve. As long as you stay near one color family and do not deviate in hue you can complete a beautiful color scheme.

Color Harmony Yellow:  Pale Cream and Yellow are a warm combination with accents of deep brown and black.   This monochromatic room stil has personality without the use of really bright accents

Color Harmony Gray:  Although gray, white and black are achromatic, that is they have no definite hue, they can combine to make a sophisticated combination.

Color Harmony Beige: Beige is not boring when it has style and class.  This room uses beige with white and cream and brown and still looks stunning to the eye.
